Ciné-Mo Launch
On the occasion of the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival (May 13-24), the CANAL+ and Art Explora Foundations will inaugurate Ciné-Mo, a mobile cinema with free and committed film programming. Combining the missions of both foundations to democratize culture, Ciné-Mo will travel across metropolitan France to meet all audiences.
Ciné-Mo
Designed to accommodate a 72-seat theater with CNC-standard projection quality and 7.1 sound, Ciné-Mo aims to cultivate a love for cinema among the widest audience by offering free film screenings to people in areas far from traditional cinemas, including Urban Policy Districts and rural areas.
A true tool for awareness and education through images, it will offer a selection of films curated by a dedicated jury composed of personalities from cinema and civil society. Educational workshops and thematic mediation tools for different audiences will complement the various screenings.
The creation of Ciné-Mo is part of the development of the fleet of cultural trucks by the Art Explora Foundation, in addition to the two museum trucks currently circulating in partnership with the Centre Pompidou, the National Center for Visual Arts (CNAP), and the Regional Contemporary Art Funds (FRAC). The CANAL+ Foundation is the main sponsor of this new mobile project, thus affirming its commitment to making cinema accessible to as many people as possible and in as many territories as possible.
The inauguration of Ciné-Mo in Cannes on May 17, 2025
Ciné-Mo will be inaugurated during the Cannes Film Festival and open to all audiences from May 13 to 24, in the heart of the La Bocca district. During this inaugural week, Ciné-Mo will screen a selection of films, notably from the STUDIOCANAL catalog, CANAL+'s in-house studio, and an international producer and distributor, holding one of the most prestigious cinema catalogs in the world.
After its launch in Cannes, Ciné-Mo will travel to Île-de-France with a new program for the first stage of its tour. It will be established from July 1 to October 11 in Urban Policy Districts as well as the most rural areas of Île-de-France.
Stéphane Roussel, President of the CANAL+ Foundation: "With the Ciné-Mo project, the CANAL+ Foundation is proud to increase its commitment to accessible cinema for the widest audience. CANAL+'s passion for cinema, Art Explora's commitment to cultural democratization, and STUDIOCANAL's power with its film catalog make Ciné-Mo a fantastic transmission project to discover and share the joy of cinema, share emotions, create connections, and promote cinematic creation and its professions, of which CANAL+ is the leading partner in France."
Ingrid Brochard, Founder of MuMo and Director of Cultural Truck Development, Art Explora Foundation: "For over ten years, we have proven with MuMo that culture can reach everyone, everywhere. With Ciné-Mo, we continue this mission by opening a new door to cinema, this art that brings people together, moves them, and makes them think. We are proud to see this new truck join the Art Explora fleet and to offer, with the CANAL+ Foundation, unprecedented access to the 7th art to those who are the most distant from it."
